Theme & Aesthetics
The architecture of the Zimbali Lakes Resort will echo that of the Coastal Resort but with a modern twist. The theme will be strongly Balinese but interpreted to fit in with KwaZulu-Natal’s humid climes.
The contemporary sub-tropical architecture of Zimbali Lakes Resort, inspired by an Asian expression, takes its cue from the current award winning Zimbali Coastal Estate architectural language with a slightly more contemporary interpretation.
This interpretation of an Asian type of architecture is primarily driven by appropriate passive design principles characterised by expressive large roof overhangs, floating over and protecting expansive glazed facades.
This is a clean, light, expression encouraging the exploration of orientation, courtyards and expansive covered verandahs to ensure a seamless relationship between interior and exterior spaces.
The contemporary tropical pavilions are expressed in raw natural materials sympathetic to the natural hues of the environment and identifiable by their uncluttered simplicity.
