Golf
Zimbali Lakes Resort will feature an 18 hole championship golf course, designed by the world famous Gary Player. Furthermore, a state-of-the art driving range and golfing academy will add a full service golfing experience to what is the first Gary Player Signature Design project on the KwaZulu-Natal coast.
Zimbali Coastal Resort boasts a Tom Weiskopf signature par 72, 18 hole championship course, which is widely considered to be one of South Africa’s great golfing experiences. Weiskopf used the contours of the dramatic landscape to create a course that is characterised by expansive vistas of the ocean and natural splendour of the resort.
The Zimbali Lakes Beach Club
Located on the beach, the Zimbali Lakes Beach Club will provide the beach access and experience for the residents. This node is in the design stages and it is currently envisioned that it will feature a large swimming pool, with surrounding decking, loungers under umbrellas, a refreshment kiosk offering light lunches and a full service ablutions block. A signature restaurant is planned for this area.
Walking Trails and Boardwalks
Zimbali Lakes Resort will have a well developed system of walking trails along the Lake and within the forested areas providing residents with a wonderful opportunity to interact with nature.
The Zimbali Lakes Resort Residents facilities
Several areas within the Zimbali Lakes Resort have been designated as residents’ recreational areas. These areas will typically be used by residents for casual meeting venues, recreation and children’s parties. The main Zimbali Lakes Resort residents’ facility has been planned to include a club-house with braai facilities, two floodlit tennis courts and a large swimming pool with surrounding recreational areas.
Bird Watching
As with Zimbali Coastal Resort, the new Zimbali Lakes Resort will become a birders paradise with over 260 species having been identified. The lush indigenous coastal feature which meanders throughout the valleys of the estate and the extensive 30ha lake which is to be constructed will create expansive resting and nesting opportunities for a very large number of bird species, from guinea fowl to the magnificent fish eagles and crowned eagles which thrive in this natural environment.
